Author Category Revival allows site administrators to control which categories each author can use when writing posts. Administrators can assign specific categories to authors and set which categories are checked by default in the post editor.
What the author sees:
- Only sees categories assigned by the administrator
- Sees pre-checked categories as configured by admin
- Can change checked categories within allowed options

- Administrator goes to Users → All Users
- Edits an author profile (cannot restrict own account)
- Finds "Author Categories Management" section

- Saves changes with "Update Account"

No, administrators can always use all categories. These restrictions only apply to authors and editors.
Can I restrict my own administrator account?

What happens if no categories are selected for an author?
The author will see all available categories (no restrictions applied).
Can I set multiple default categories?
Yes! You can check one or multiple categories as default. All checked categories will be pre-selected when the author creates a new post.
Can authors change the default categories?
Yes, authors can uncheck or check different categories within their allowed list when writing posts.
What if an author needs access to new categories?
Administrators can edit the author's profile at any time to add or remove categories from their allowed list.
Is this plugin compatible with multilingual sites?
Yes, the plugin includes French and English translations and is ready for translation to other languages.
Does it work with custom post types?
Currently, the plugin works only with standard WordPress posts. Future versions may include custom post type support.
