- Install and activate the Backpilot plugin (WooCommerce must be active).
- Go to WooCommerce → Backpilot.
- Connect your store by clicking Connect shop.
- Watch the status card while your catalog imports — this usually takes a few minutes.
- When the status shows Active, the concierge is live on your storefront.

Is this just another chatbot?
It's chat, but not a canned-answers chatbot. Backpilot is an AI shopping assistant grounded in your live catalog — it searches real products, checks stock and prices, fills the cart, and knows the page your shopper is on. When your store doesn't have something, it says so instead of making things up.
Does it work with my theme?
Yes. The concierge is a self-contained launcher and panel that floats above your pages — it doesn't touch your theme's markup, styles, or layout, and works the same on block and classic themes.
Will it slow my store down?
The storefront loads one small asynchronous script, and only on pages where the concierge is enabled. Beyond the launcher button, nothing loads until a shopper opens the chat. If Backpilot is ever unreachable, your store is unaffected — the concierge simply doesn't appear.
What data does Backpilot use?
Nothing is sent until you click Connect in plugin settings. After that, Backpilot reads your public product data through the standard WooCommerce Store API — the same data any visitor's browser can read. Shoppers' payment details are never involved: checkout runs on your own site, as always.
Can I turn it off?
Instantly. One checkbox in plugin settings removes the concierge from every page of your storefront. Deleting the plugin disconnects your shop and removes every setting it stored; data held by the service is deleted within 90 days of disconnecting — sooner on request at privacy@backpilot.ai.
What languages does it speak?
The concierge follows your storefront's language, and shoppers can chat in their own. The plugin's admin pages are in English, with French, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, Dutch and Ukrainian translations arriving as language packs via translate.wordpress.org.
