Bearius Calendar is an events calendar for sites that publish a lot of events: city guides, culture portals, venues, clubs and ticket affiliates. It looks tidy on any theme, even when events come without images, and it stays fast with tens of thousands of dates.
Fast with thousands of events
- Dates live in a compact, indexed table, so lists and the month view never run heavy post meta queries.
- A recurring event is one event with a repeat rule. New dates are added ahead automatically as time passes.
- Front-end files load only on pages that show the calendar: one small stylesheet and a tiny deferred script.
- Queries use the object cache when your site has one, and pages stay cacheable.
Looks good on any site
- Three views: a list grouped by day, a month grid that turns into a compact grid on phones, and minimal text tiles.
- A different default view for computers, tablets and phones, if you want one.
- Designed to look complete without images, so imports without pictures never look broken.
- Six colour presets, your own colours or colours from your theme palette.
- Light, dark or automatic mode, corner radius and a live preview in the settings.
- Always readable: every colour is checked against its background (WCAG AA) and text is corrected when needed. Theme link and button styles cannot hide calendar text.
- Category colours and status labels for cancelled, postponed and sold out events.
Event pages
- A side panel with the date, venue, "Get directions", tickets from up to two sellers, price, "Add to calendar" and "Share".
- A sticky ticket bar on phones and more events at the same venue.
- Every date of a recurring event has its own address, and the page shows the chosen date.
- An optional affiliate notice next to ticket links, with a text for each language.
Recurring events
- Daily, weekly on chosen weekdays, monthly (also "the 3rd Thursday" or "the last Friday") and yearly.
- An end date or a number of repeats, skipped dates and extra dates.
- Repeat rules from other calendars are kept exactly, including BYSETPOS, BYMONTH, BYMONTHDAY and EXRULE.
Import and stay in sync
- From The Events Calendar: events are converted in place, keeping the same ID, address, content, image, comments and SEO data, together with venues, organizers, categories, repeat rules and URL bases. Old addresses redirect. The original data is not changed, so the conversion can be undone.
- .ics calendars from a file or an address, imported once or as a subscription checked from every hour to once a week. Add as many subscriptions as you need.
- From custom fields (ACF and others): events kept as posts with custom fields (ACF, Meta Box, Pods, JetEngine or plain post meta), also regular posts of an events category, are converted in place. Choose which field holds the date, time, venue, address, price or ticket link, with examples from your newest posts and dates shown as the calendar reads them. Taxonomies become categories, cities, venues or organizers. Addresses can stay the same, and old ones redirect.
- Every import runs in the background in small batches, safe on modest hosting, with progress, pause, a summary and Undo.
- Venues, cities, organizers and categories are matched by name and aliases, so "MTP Hall" and "Hall, MTP" end up as one venue.
- Fields you edit by hand are never overwritten by later imports.
- Optional details from event pages (image, price, ticket link, organizer, status). Images are downloaded only after you confirm you have the rights to use them.
- For each import: index normally, point the canonical to the original, or set noindex.
- WP All Import: a "Bearius Calendar" section in step 3 of the import. Works with the free version of WP All Import.
Search engines and feeds
- Event structured data (JSON-LD) on event pages.
- An optional fallback image for events without one, used only in structured data and link previews (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, Bearius SEO Light). It never appears on the calendar pages.
- Dates and places in the RSS feed.
- .ics download for single events and a calendar feed for calendar apps.
Works with your setup
- Classic and block themes. Block themes get event templates you can edit in the Site Editor.
- Blocks: Events calendar, Upcoming events, Featured events, Events archive and event details (date, venue, tickets, directions, price) for your own event templates.
- Native Elementor widgets, and shortcodes for any other page builder.
- Polylang and WPML for texts in several languages.
- Template files you can copy to your theme and change.
Languages
Translations into Polish, German, Spanish and French come with the plugin, and translations from
translate.wordpress.org are used too: they come first, the bundled files fill in anything missing. The plugin screens follow the language of your profile, and you can choose a different language for them in the settings. Visitors always see the language of the site.
Privacy
The plugin does not track visitors, sets no cookies and never contacts a server on its own. See "External services" below for the addresses it connects to when you ask it to.

1.2.0
Brings together everything since 1.1.0:
- New: import from custom fields (ACF, Meta Box, Pods, JetEngine and others) and regular posts, with field mapping, examples from your posts, URL bases kept, redirects and Undo (1.1.0).
- New: after a conversion the old post type and its taxonomies leave the admin menu, and bcal_is_converted() tells themes and plugins about it (1.1.1).
- New: the affiliate notice can also appear on event lists with ticket buttons (1.1.4).
- Improved: the Automatic colour mode follows the light or dark version of the site, and text outside the calendar cards uses the theme text colour (1.1.3, 1.1.6).
- Security: stricter handling of imported names, unpublished events in shortcodes, blocks and widgets, and dates saved through the REST API (1.1.2, 1.1.5).
- New: screenshots of the main screens on the plugin page.
1.1.6
- Fixed: category chips and the month arrows keep the calendar text colour. Since 1.1.3 they could take the theme text colour and become hard to read on a dark calendar background.
- Improved: days of the neighbouring months in the month view are faded less, so they stay readable.
1.1.5
- Security: skipped and extra dates of an event keep a strict date format also when they are saved through the REST API, and the event editor escapes quotes in values it builds. A user who may edit events could otherwise store a value that ran script in the editor of another user.
1.1.4
- New: the affiliate notice also appears on event lists (list and tiles views) that show ticket buttons - once per list, above or below it. Settings > Affiliate notice > On event lists.
1.1.3
- Improved: the Automatic colour mode follows the light or dark version of the site, not only the system setting. Known theme switches (data-theme, Bootstrap, Tailwind, Twenty Twenty-One, WP Dark Mode, Flavor Core) work without delay, and the real page background is checked for any other theme or a dark section on a light page.
- Improved: text outside the calendar cards (event title, description, headings, upcoming list) uses the theme text colour, so it stays readable whatever colours the cards have. Accent text there is checked against the page background.
- Improved: the colour mode is now the first setting, followed by the accent and separate light and dark colour sets that show only when the mode uses them.
- Changed: contrast correction is always on.
1.1.2
- Security: names from imported calendars (titles, venues, organizers, addresses) are decoded before tags are removed, so encoded HTML in a feed can no longer turn into markup.
- Security: the [bearius_event] and [bearius_event_part] shortcodes, the event blocks and the page builder widgets show only published events. Drafts, scheduled and private events appear only to users who may read them.
1.1.1
- Improved: after a conversion from custom fields, the old post type and its taxonomies also leave the admin menu, so no empty duplicate menu stays next to the calendar.
- New: bcal_is_converted() tells themes and plugins that their own event post type was converted and handed over to the calendar.
1.1.0
- New: import from custom fields (ACF, Meta Box, Pods, JetEngine and others) with field mapping, examples from your posts, URL bases kept and Undo.
- New: regular posts can be converted too, with redirects from their old addresses.
- New: ready mapping for the Flavor Core theme, converted with one click.
- New: translations into Polish, German, Spanish and French included.
- Security: addresses of imported calendars, event pages and images are checked on every redirect; local, private, link-local and reserved networks are refused.
- Security: password protected events no longer show their text in lists, structured data or calendar files.
- Improved: import summaries count each venue, organizer and category once.
- Improved: when several imports are undone, the newest goes first.
- Improved: lists show at most 200 events per page.
