[biel_ask_ai] shortcodebiel-search npm package, MIT licensed. Its readable source ships alongside the minified build, in assets/vendor/biel-search/collection/.
Install and activate the plugin. Setup opens by itself: it asks what kind of site you run, checks the sitemap your pages are listed in, and sends you to Biel.ai to create an account or log in. You come back to WordPress with the project already created. The chatbot is then live on your site, answering from the pages Biel.ai has indexed. No code, and nothing to configure before it works.
Biel.ai re-crawls your sitemap on your plan's own schedule, so new posts are picked up without you doing anything. When you would rather not wait, Recrawl now on the settings screen starts a fresh crawl straight away, and the screen tells you when it has finished. You can also trigger one from the Sources screen in your dashboard.
Yes. Behavior has five presets - general website, online store, customer support, documentation, blog - and each one fills an Instructions field you can then rewrite entirely. Those instructions are stored on your Biel.ai project and shape every answer, including the ones that come through Slack or the API.
Yes, one that answers only from your own pages. A general AI chatbot answers from a model's world knowledge and will happily improvise about your business. This one reads the pages you have indexed, links to each one it used, and says so when your content does not cover a question. That makes it a searchable knowledge base with a conversation on top, rather than a chatbot bolted onto your site.
That is what most sites use it for. Set it up as a support AI assistant: point it at your help pages, pick the Customer support preset, and it resolves the questions your documentation already answers, with a link to the article, so the visitor can read the rest. When the pages do not cover something, it says so and hands off rather than guessing, and your dashboard shows which questions kept coming back unanswered, which is usually a list of pages worth writing.
Yes. Your Biel.ai dashboard keeps every conversation, and its analytics show the popular questions, the topics your pages left unanswered, and how satisfied visitors were with the answers. The unanswered list doubles as a writing plan: each entry is a page your site is missing.
It is built so that it has far less room to. Answers are written from the pages Biel.ai indexed for your project and nothing else, every answer carries links to the pages it used, and when your content does not cover a question the instructions tell it to say so instead of filling the gap. No system that writes sentences can promise perfection, which is exactly why the source links are there on every answer, so nobody has to take its word for it.
Yes. Use the [biel_ask_ai] shortcode anywhere ([biel] is a shorter alias for the same thing). Add embedded="true" to render the conversation inline instead of in a panel, and override any option per instance, for example [biel_ask_ai button_text="Ask the docs" modal_position="sidebar-right"].
Yes. Your Biel.ai project can define actions the assistant offers alongside an answer: a calendar link to book a call, a buy button for the product it just explained, a contact-support handoff when a person is the right answer. The assistant surfaces them in the conversation when they fit. Actions are configured per project in your dashboard. See the actions guide.
Yes. The settings take include and exclude URL rules: list a fragment such as /docs/ to show the assistant only on matching pages, or /checkout/ to keep it off them. Leave both empty to show it everywhere.
Yes. The chatbot is added in the site footer, independently of how a page's content is built, so it works with the block editor, Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder and classic themes. The shortcode works anywhere shortcodes are supported.
Yes. The plugin works on any WordPress site, WooCommerce included, with nothing separate to install. Point Biel.ai at your product sitemap, pick the Online store preset, and it becomes a shopping assistant: shoppers ask about sizing, materials, shipping or returns in their own words and get the answer with a link to the product or policy page it came from. It never invents a price or a delivery date. If a page does not state it, it says so. The URL rules let you keep it off cart and checkout.
The plugin does, but the indexing does not. Biel.ai reads your content by crawling it from the internet, so a site on localhost, on a private network, or under a .local or .test domain has nothing it can reach. Setup says so plainly when the address it has cannot be crawled, and lets you continue anyway: point the Sitemap field at your public site's sitemap and that is what gets indexed, or skip it and add sources in your dashboard. The chatbot keeps working on the local install for testing either way.
Yes. Colors, button style and position, panel position, and every string in the panel are editable in the settings, with a live preview that updates as you type. For finer control the widget reads a CSS custom property for every color, size and radius.
No. Biel.ai is a paid service with a 14-day free trial of the full product, no credit card required. When the trial ends the assistant stops answering until you subscribe. Your project, your indexed content and your settings all stay. See the pricing page.
Not unless you ask for it. The credit is off by default and there is a checkbox in the settings if you want to show it. Turning it on or off is free on every plan.
That is the companion Biel.ai search plugin. It replaces the WordPress search box with an AI search modal over the same indexed content, with an "Ask AI" row for questions a list of results cannot answer. Both plugins can run on one site and share a single Biel.ai project.
The assistant sends Biel.ai the question a visitor types and the page they are on. It does not ask for a name or an email address, and it sets no advertising cookies. By default no third-party fonts or scripts load in the visitor's browser. See the data privacy guide and the Biel.ai privacy policy.
Disconnecting removes the chatbot from this site and keeps your customization, so reconnecting is one click. Your project, your indexed content and your conversations live in your Biel.ai account and are never deleted by this plugin. Uninstalling removes the plugin's own options from every site on the network.
