<head> under Clever Advertising → Settings)https://plugin-api.clvrads.com/v1/plugin/register: your site's address, the address of this site's REST API, and a random one-time value. Your WordPress administrator email address is sent too only if you tick the box offering to share it on that screen. Clever reads that value back from https://your-site/wp-json/clever/v1/proof to confirm you control the domain, then issues a credential, which the plugin stores in your database and sends with every later request it makes to Clever. The one-time value is then discarded and that address stops answering.
When you check whether your domain is eligible (automatically, when you open the Partnership screen after connecting) the plugin sends your site's domain name to https://plugin-api.clvrads.com/v1/plugin/valid-domain. The answer is cached for five minutes.
When you open the Partnership screen after connecting, or submit a request, the plugin fetches the current ad formats and the Partnership Terms address and version from https://plugin-api.clvrads.com/v1/plugin/configurations. Nothing else is sent. The answer is cached for three hours.
When you press Calculate in the revenue calculator, the plugin sends the visitor region and content category you picked to https://plugin-api.clvrads.com/v1/plugin/calculate-cpm and receives the advertising rate range Clever expects for them. The page-view figure is never sent: the estimate is worked out in your browser. The answer is cached for 12 hours.
When you submit a partnership request the plugin sends to https://plugin-api.clvrads.com/v1/plugin/proposal: your site URL, a one-time activation key generated on your site, the contact name, email address and phone number you typed into the form, that you accepted the Partnership Terms, when, and which version you were shown, the device and ad formats you selected, and the content categories you chose to exclude from advertising.
When the status of your partnership changes — you end a request from wp-admin, deactivate the plugin while a request is open, delete it while a partnership is running and keep its data, or reactivate or reinstall it afterwards — the plugin sends your site URL, the request's identifier and the name of the event to https://plugin-api.clvrads.com/v1/plugin/proposal/update.
What stays on your site. While a partnership is running, deleting the plugin keeps your partnership records, settings and Clever credential, so reinstalling reconnects to the same partnership, unless you tick Delete all Clever Advertising data when the plugin is deleted under Clever Advertising → Settings first. In every other case deleting the plugin removes everything it stored, and sends your site URL and credential to https://plugin-api.clvrads.com/v1/plugin/registration so that Clever releases the credential and withdraws any request or partnership still open.
Your contact details are covered by WordPress's privacy tools: Tools → Export Personal Data returns the contact name, email, phone number and Partnership Terms acceptance, and Tools → Erase Personal Data removes the name, email and phone number. The record of your Terms acceptance (when, and which version) is kept as evidence of consent. Clever keeps its own copy of any request you submitted; contact Clever directly to have that erased.
When you open the Partnership Terms from the Partnership screen, the terms page opens in a new browser tab at https://wp.cleveradvertising.com, currently https://wp.cleveradvertising.com/terms-and-conditions/. Nothing is loaded from there until you click the link, and no data from your site is sent with it.
When you click View campaign or the dashboard link on Clever Advertising → Campaign, your read-only campaign dashboard opens on Clever Advertising's site in a new browser tab, at the address Clever sent at activation. The plugin never loads it inside WordPress and reads nothing from it. Nothing is requested until you click, and no data from your site, not even the page you came from, is sent with it.
When Clever reviews and activates your request, Clever's servers call two addresses on your site. https://your-site/wp-json/clever/v1/update-status tells the plugin that your request was approved or declined; a declined request is ended on your site and its settings are cleared. https://your-site/wp-json/clever/v1/activate delivers your campaign: the identifier of its advertising script, the dashboard address, where the script goes and which devices it targets. Each call must carry the one-time activation key created with your request, and only an open request can be changed; any other call is refused.
Once your partnership is active, the plugin adds a script tag for that identifier to your front end, for example https://scripts.cleverwebserver.com/<identifier>.js. It is the only thing your visitors' browsers load because of this plugin. It is served by Clever's ad infrastructure, its data handling is covered by the privacy policy below, and you should include it in your site's cookie-consent and privacy notice. The plugin itself sends no data about your visitors and makes no requests from your front end: everything above is sent from wp-admin or the uninstall routine.

Clever reviews every partnership request. The plugin checks automatically whether your domain is eligible when you open the Partnership screen after connecting.
No. Once your request is approved, the ad script is activated automatically. You don't need to edit your theme or paste ad tags.
The plugin adds one script tag to your front end, only once a partnership is active, and only on the pages and devices your settings allow. It goes at the end of the page by default, so your content loads first. The plugin's own admin styles and scripts load only on Clever Advertising screens.
Yes. Ads load on your entire site by default. Under Settings you can exclude specific categories (with their subcategories, their archives and the posts in them) and specific pages — combined with device targeting (desktop, mobile, or both).
Yes. Excluded pages and categories are excluded in every language on sites translated with Polylang or WPML.
