Image search uses the same WordPress AI Client and requires a configured provider/model that supports image input (vision). It has a separate enable switch and separate administrator consent because a resized copy of the uploaded reference image is sent temporarily through WordPress to the configured AI provider for interpretation. The image is not sent to Commervia and is not stored by this plugin. The configured AI provider may apply its own usage charges.
Commervia AI
The settings screen contains a contextual link to Commervia AI, the broader WooCommerce suite from the same developer. This promotion is limited to the plugin's own settings page. It does not create global admin notices, transmit store data to Commervia, create an account or change the functionality included in this free plugin.

- Install and activate Commervia AI Search for WooCommerce.
- Go to WooCommerce > AI Search.
- Configure the search behavior and save the settings.
- Optional: add custom product meta keys that should participate in search.
- Optional: configure a compatible AI provider in Settings > Connectors, then explicitly enable/consent to the AI features you want to use.
- Test text and image searches on the storefront.

Is an AI provider required?
No for normal text search. The relevance-weighted local search works without AI. Semantic interpretation is optional. Search by image requires a compatible vision-capable AI provider configured in WordPress under Settings > Connectors because the uploaded reference image must be interpreted by an external AI service.
Is image search included for free?
Yes. From version 1.0.6, image search is included directly in the WordPress.org plugin. There is no separate license check or paid add-on requirement.
Can I search my own custom product fields?
Yes. In WooCommerce > AI Search, you can configure up to 50 product meta keys. Their values are added to the local search index and can influence matching and relevance. SKU and the standard EAN fields already supported by the plugin do not need to be added again.
Does the plugin send my product catalog to the AI provider?
No. Product matching stays inside WordPress. For optional semantic text interpretation, only the shopper's search text, language and technical request parameters are sent through the WordPress AI Client. For image search, the resized reference image and optional search text are sent temporarily to the configured AI provider after explicit administrator consent.
Does the plugin send data to Commervia?
No telemetry or store data is sent to Commervia by this plugin. Links to the Commervia AI website or demo are contacted only when an administrator deliberately clicks them.
Does the plugin expire?
No. All functionality included in this WordPress.org plugin remains available permanently.
Does it work with WooCommerce product search forms?
Yes. It can automatically enhance standard WooCommerce product-search forms and the Product Search block. An additional CSS selector can also be configured for custom theme search forms.
How are translations handled?
The plugin source is fully internationalized and ready for community translations through translate.wordpress.org.
Can I use this together with Commervia AI?
Commervia AI already contains a broader search module. When the complete plugin is active, Commervia AI Search avoids loading a duplicate storefront search interface.
