DCLVBS AI Image Labels adds AI classification controls directly to the WordPress Media Library. Images can be classified as: The selected classification is stored as attachment metadata. On the public website, the plugin automatically displays the corresponding AI icon as a visible overlay whenever the WordPress attachment can be reliably identified. The original image file is never modified. The free version supports standard WordPress images, featured images, images inside Gutenberg and post content, and supported Elementor background images when the underlying WordPress attachment can be reliably identified. DCLVBS AI Image Labels Pro adds extended support for WooCommerce product galleries, variation images, dynamic variation galleries, and enhanced image recognition. The use of an AI labeling icon alone does not guarantee compliance with applicable laws or regulations. Available classifications Each image can use one of three AI classifications, or no AI label: No AI label No AI label is displayed for the image on the public website. Basic A general label for content where artificial intelligence was involved in the creation or modification process. Icon file: LABEL_AI_black.svg Fully AI-generated For images created entirely using artificial intelligence. Icon file: LABEL_AI_GENERATED_black.svg Partially AI-modified For existing images that were partially modified using artificial intelligence.   1. Upload the plugin ZIP file through Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, or install it using the available WordPress installation method.
  2. Activate DCLVBS AI Image Labels.
  3. Open the WordPress Media Library.
  4. Select an image.
  5. Choose the desired AI classification.
  6. Save the attachment.
  7. Use the image normally on the public website.
No modification of the original image file is required.

Does the plugin modify my original image?

No. The plugin does not modify the original image file or WordPress-generated image variants. The label is added only to supported frontend HTML output.

Does the plugin add a watermark to the image file?

No. The label is displayed as a separate HTML overlay. The underlying image file remains unchanged.

Is the label shown in the WordPress administration area?

The classification can be managed in the WordPress Media Library. The Media Library contains an AI classification field and an additional AI column. Visible AI label overlays are intended for the public website and are not added to images in regular administration or editor views.

Can I change the classification later?

Yes. The classification can be changed or removed at any time in the WordPress Media Library. The new selection is then used for supported frontend output of that attachment.

Do I need to classify the same image every time I use it?

No. The classification is stored on the WordPress attachment itself. When the underlying attachment can be reliably identified, the same stored classification can be used for multiple supported appearances of that image.

Which classification should I use?

That depends on how the image was created or modified and how it is being used. The available technical classifications are:

  • Basic
  • Fully AI-generated
  • Partially AI-modified
The plugin does not determine the appropriate classification automatically. The website operator is responsible for choosing the classification appropriate for the particular image and use case.

Does the plugin automatically detect AI-generated images?

No. The plugin does not perform AI detection, image analysis, or automated classification. The website administrator manually selects the classification in the WordPress Media Library.

Does this plugin automatically make my website compliant with the EU AI Act?

No. The plugin provides technical functionality for managing and displaying image labels. Whether labeling is legally required, which label should be used, and whether additional obligations apply depend on the content, use case, operator, and applicable law. The plugin does not provide legal advice.

Are the included labels official EU icons?

Yes. The plugin includes the official EU icons for labeling AI-generated and AI-modified content, as published by the European Commission. The included icons are:

The European Commission makes these icons publicly available for free use without requiring attribution to the Commission or the AI Office. The use of the EU icons is optional. Does the plugin work with Elementor and other page builders?

Yes. The plugin includes support for supported Elementor image output, classic background images, and compatible widgets or add-ons that render WordPress media images using CSS background-image. The underlying WordPress attachment must be reliably identifiable for the stored AI classification to be applied. Other page builders may also work when they use supported WordPress image functions or expose enough information to identify the corresponding attachment. Compatibility with every page builder, widget, theme, or third-party extension cannot be guaranteed.

Does the plugin work with gallery plugins?

The free version can label images when the gallery output can be reliably associated with a WordPress attachment through supported WordPress functionality. DCLVBS AI Image Labels Pro adds enhanced recognition using filenames and WordPress-generated image sizes, which can improve compatibility with gallery implementations that do not expose attachment IDs directly. Compatibility with every third-party gallery plugin or theme cannot be guaranteed.

Can I change the appearance of the label?

Yes. The label position and size can be adjusted using the provided CSS classes.
