Does scanning delete anything?
No. Scanning is read-only. Nothing is removed until you explicitly choose a cleanup action.
Does the plugin automatically delete old content?
No. The free plugin is built around a Scan -> Review -> Clean workflow so you decide what gets removed.
Does media deletion remove image files from the server?
Yes. The plugin uses WordPress attachment deletion, which removes the attachment record and WordPress-generated image files associated with it.
Can the plugin guarantee that an image is unused?
No. WordPress sites can reference images through themes, plugins, page builders, custom fields, CSS, external services, and custom code. The plugin checks several common WordPress references and flags other items for review. Always inspect questionable media and keep a backup.
Why are some images marked Protected?
A known WordPress reference was found, such as a site icon, custom logo, featured image, WooCommerce gallery image, or filename reference in post content. Protected items cannot be selected from the cleanup screen.
Why are some images marked for Review?
The plugin found something that makes the image less certain to delete automatically, such as an attachment relationship. Review items deserve a closer look before removal.
Can deleted content be recovered?
Content moved to Trash can usually be restored until the Trash is emptied. Permanently deleted content and media require a backup to recover.
Should I back up my site first?
Yes. A current backup is strongly recommended before permanently deleting content or media.
