WHY THIS PLUGIN?
GC Testimonials plugin lacks a way to stop spam testimonials from being submitted. This plugin changes nothing from the original plugin except for adding reCAPTCHA functionality.
This plugin is based on GC Testimonials version 1.3.2 and has been tested on WordPress 3.9.
- Upload the 'gc-testimonials-recaptcha' folder to '/wp-content/plugins/' directory.
- Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.
- Go to https://www.google.com/recaptcha and register to get your public and private keys.
- Go to WP Admin > Testimonials > Settings > reCAPTCHA Settings and enter your keys.
- Go to WP Admin > Testimonials > Settings > Shortdodes and use these in your page or post where you would like to display the testimonial, or use the widget to display testimonials in the sidebar.
Updating from GC Testimonials
- Do a database backup in case anything goes wrong.
- Deactivate and delete "GC Testimonials" plugin.
- Install "GC Testimonials with reCAPTCHA" and activate.
- Go to https://www.google.com/recaptcha and register to get your public and private keys.
- Go to WP Admin > Testimonials > Settings > reCAPTCHA Settings and enter your keys.
- Because there have been no changes to the "GC Testimonials" files we used in this plugin, it uses the same database tables as the original plugin. Your testimonials and shortcodes should work exactly the same with no changes needed.
