Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman have each launched an official currency symbol to replace the plain "SAR", "AED" and "OMR" abbreviations, the same way "$", "€" and "£" work for other currencies. GCC Currency Symbols Pro swaps those abbreviations for the new symbols anywhere WooCommerce prints a price: shop and product pages, cart, checkout (including the block-based Cart & Checkout), the My Account order history, WooCommerce emails, the admin Orders screen, and PDF invoices.
What it replaces
- Saudi Riyal (SAR) – the symbol approved by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) in February 2025. It already has a real Unicode code point, U+20C1 (Unicode 17.0, Sept 2025), so it's rendered as plain Unicode text (with a bundled font as a fallback for systems that don't have it yet).
- UAE Dirham (AED) – the symbol unveiled by the Central Bank of the UAE in March 2025. Its Unicode code point isn't available until Unicode 18.0 (expected Sept 2026), so it's rendered as a small inline image instead — this avoids conflicts with other icon fonts (like WordPress's own dashicons) that can otherwise claim the same placeholder code points.
- Omani Rial (OMR) – the symbol unveiled by the Central Bank of Oman in November 2025. Same situation as the Dirham: rendered as an inline image until its official code point ships.
- Pick exactly which of the three currencies get the new symbol — leave the rest showing their classic abbreviation.
- Works with the classic (shortcode) cart/checkout and the WooCommerce Blocks cart/checkout/mini-cart.
- Correct symbol in WooCommerce emails and PDF invoices, using an image fallback since most email clients strip web fonts.
- Optional automatic currency-position fix (the new symbols read best to the left of the amount, with a space).
- Serves the classic abbreviation to search engine and AI crawlers (Googlebot, Bingbot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, etc.) so structured pricing data and page text stay machine-readable — you can turn this off.
- Compatible with popular multi-currency plugins: WOOCS – WooCommerce Currency Switcher, CURCY (WPFactory), Multi Currency for WooCommerce (VillaTheme), Aelia Currency Switcher, and WPML/WCML multi-currency.
- Declares compatibility with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and the Cart & Checkout blocks.
- No tracking, no upsells, no "Go Pro" nags. Everything in this plugin is free.
gcc-currency-symbols.woff / .ttf into wp-content/uploads/gcc-currency-symbols/ and the plugin will use it automatically — no code edits required.

/wp-content/plugins/gcc-currency-symbols-pro, or install it directly through the Plugins screen. - Activate the plugin.
- Go to WooCommerce → Currency Symbols and choose which currencies should show the new symbol.

常见问题:
Does this change my store's actual currency?
No. It only changes how the currency symbol is displayed. Your WooCommerce currency setting, prices and totals are untouched.
Will this affect SEO or how AI shopping assistants read my prices?
By default the plugin serves the classic abbreviation ("SAR", "AED", "OMR") to known search engine and AI crawlers, so structured data and scraped page text stay readable, while human visitors see the new symbol. You can turn this off in Settings if you prefer the symbol everywhere.
Does it work with the WooCommerce Cart & Checkout blocks?
Yes. Prices rendered by the Cart, Checkout and Mini-Cart blocks are handled separately from the classic shortcode-based pages, and both are covered.
Does it work with page builders and other plugins?
Any plugin or theme that reads the price through WooCommerce's standard wc_price() / woocommerce_currency_symbol filter will show the new symbol automatically. If you find a plugin that shows a raw currency code instead, let us know via the support forum.
