Golf Handicap & Slope is a WordPress plugin that allows golf clubs to offer a useful course handicap calculator and complete handicap tables on their websites.
The plugin uses the official formula from the World Handicap System (WHS) to calculate course handicap:
Course Handicap = (Handicap Index × Slope Rating ÷ 113) + (Course Rating – Par)

- Download and install the plugin via the WordPress dashboard or by uploading the files manually to the plugins folder.

Golf Handicap & Slope requires WordPress 5.6 or newer and PHP 7.0 or newer.

There is no limit to the number of tees you can add.

How do I show the scorecard with strokes per hole?
Go to "Golf Handicap & Slope" > "Scorecard" and enter par, stroke index and (optionally) length for the 18 holes of each tee. Then place [golfhs_scorecard] on the same page as [golfhs_calculator]. The calculator's tee dropdown is then replaced by the scorecard's tee tabs: the player types a handicap, clicks a tee and sees the course handicap and the holes with strokes. Only tees with all 18 holes filled in are shown; administrators see a note about tees that are missing data.
Can I display only selected tees in the tables?
Yes, you can use the shortcode [golfhs_tables tees="1,2,3"] to display only specific tees.
Is the plugin translated into other languages?
Yes, the plugin is now available in English, Norwegian, and Icelandic. It automatically follows the WordPress language, as long as it is translated. If you would like to contribute with translations to other languages, please contact the plugin author.

- Added: Scorecard. Enter par, stroke index and length for the 18 holes of each tee (Golf Handicap & Slope > Scorecard, with "copy from" between tees and validation of pars and stroke indexes). The new
[golfhs_scorecard]shortcode shows the scorecard for every tee with complete hole data, with tabs between tees. On the same page as the calculator the tabs replace the tee dropdown, and the scorecard marks, hole by hole, where the player gets (or gives) strokes and explains it in one sentence. - Added:
[golfhs_calculator label="…"]to change the label on the handicap field. - Added: Tees with incomplete hole data are never shown to visitors; administrators see a note listing them.

golfhs:resultevent (with playing handicap, handicap index and tee data) and agolfhs:clearevent are dispatched ondocument, so themes can react to the result – for example to show which holes you get strokes on. - Accessibility: The result box announces changes to screen readers (aria-live).
- Fixed: The label sat right on top of the input, so the focus ring covered its descenders in some themes; inputs taller than 38px overflowed their wrapper.
- Fixed: The course rating / slope / par values in the tee rows could run together without spacing in narrow content columns (e.g. next to a sidebar). They now keep a gap and wrap when needed.
- Fixed: Tee names such as "Herrer, tee 64" could wrap onto two lines in the green label; the label now grows with the name.
- Changed: Tee rows in the tables now show "Course rating 72.4 · Slope rating 128 · Par 72" using the site's locale for decimals (e.g. 72,4 in Norwegian) and without trademark symbols. Tee headings and the calculator's tee dropdown now use one translatable format ("Men – Yellow").
- i18n (Norwegian): consistent terminology throughout – "handicap" (not "handikap"), "spillehandicap" for course handicap, "handicapindeks", "utslag" for tee, "herrer/damer" for men/women; shorter, plainer validation messages.
- i18n: the result help texts now use English source strings (were Norwegian), with proper Norwegian translations added. No functional change.
- Fixed: Calculator showed the wrong sign for plus handicaps on harder tees (the playing handicap was incorrectly negated). Calculator and tables now always agree.
- Fixed: A "+" entered for a plus handicap was stripped by the number field and treated as a regular handicap. Plus and minus are now treated the same (both mean a plus handicap).
- Changed: Course handicap is now shown with its natural sign — a positive value means you receive strokes, a negative value means you must give strokes (play under par).
- New: Plain-language helper text under the result explaining what the number means, plus a color hint (green when you receive strokes, amber when you must give strokes).
