详情介绍:

Rupanta Media Converter is a completely free WebP and AVIF image converter for WordPress. All features are included in the WordPress.org version — there is no premium edition, subscription, license key, conversion quota, or external conversion service required. The plugin converts WordPress JPEG and PNG images to WebP and AVIF, with automatic conversion for new uploads and AJAX batch conversion for existing media library images. Original JPEG and PNG files are kept intact. When generated modern-format files are available, WordPress attachment images can be served with <picture> markup so supported browsers can load AVIF or WebP while retaining the original image as a fallback. Features include: Rupanta Media Converter can be used as a free WordPress image converter, free WebP converter, free AVIF converter, and batch media conversion tool without relying on a remote API. The plugin does not send image data to third-party services. Conversion happens locally on the WordPress server using the available GD or Imagick image encoder.

安装:

  1. Upload the lightweight-modern-media folder to /wp-content/plugins/, or install the plugin ZIP through Plugins > Add Plugin.
  2. Activate Rupanta Media Converter.
  3. Go to Media > Rupanta Media Converter.
  4. Review the detected server encoder support.
  5. Enable WebP and/or AVIF and choose the desired quality settings.
  6. Use the batch converter if you want to process existing media library images.

常见问题:

Is Rupanta Media Converter completely free?

Yes. All features are included in the WordPress.org version. There is no premium edition, paid upgrade, subscription, license key, conversion limit, or external conversion service.

Does this replace my original images?

No. The original JPEG and PNG files are preserved. The plugin creates separate .webp and/or .avif files beside the original image files.

Which source images are converted?

JPEG and PNG WordPress attachments are converted. GIF, SVG, WebP, AVIF, PDFs, videos, and external images are skipped.

Will converted images be used on the front end?

Yes, when "Serve generated formats with picture markup on the front end" is enabled and generated files exist. Standard WordPress attachment image markup can be wrapped in <picture> elements. The plugin also includes an Elementor-compatible rendered-content fallback for image tags containing wp-image-* classes.

Why does the admin page say a format is unsupported?

The PHP image extension may be installed without that specific encoder. Ask your hosting provider whether GD or Imagick/ImageMagick was compiled with WebP and/or AVIF support.

Does this plugin use a third-party API or external image service?

No. Images are converted locally on your WordPress server.

Are there conversion limits or quotas?

No plugin-imposed conversion limits or quotas are used. Conversion capacity depends on your server resources and available image encoder support.

What happens when I delete an attachment?

Generated WebP and AVIF files recorded for that attachment are deleted along with it.
