- Install and activate WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML Translation Management, and add at least two languages.
- Upload this plugin through Plugins > Add New, or copy the folder to
/wp-content/plugins/, then activate it. - Open Lumo WP > Auto AI Translator > Settings and paste your OpenAI API key, then pick a model and press Test connection.
- On the dashboard, use the WPML registration button so the translation service appears in WPML Translation Management.
- In WPML > Translation Management, send content to translation and choose Lumo AI Translator as the translator.
- Optional: open the Cron Setup tab and add the server cron command shown there for uninterrupted background processing.

Do I need WPML?
Yes. This plugin is a translation service for WPML and does not translate anything on its own. Without WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML Translation Management it stays idle.
Do you resell translation credits?
No. You use your own OpenAI API key and OpenAI bills you directly. The plugin adds no markup and no middleman server.
Is my content sent anywhere besides OpenAI?
No. The only outbound request is to the OpenAI API endpoint listed above, using your own key.
What happens if a translation times out?
The job is kept in the queue with its progress. Finished chunks are stored, and the next run resumes from the first unfinished chunk instead of translating everything again.
Can I control the wording and terminology?
Yes. Settings > Custom Instructions is passed to the model with every request, so you can fix brand names, terminology and tone once for the whole site.
Does it work with page builders?
Content coming from WPML jobs keeps its HTML and builder markup, including Elementor content that WPML includes in the job.
Can I run this alongside the full edition?
No. Both editions use the same database tables and the same WPML translator record, so only one may be active at a time. If the full edition is active, this edition stays idle and shows a notice instead of running a second queue.
Why does this plugin create a WordPress user?
WPML Translation Management assigns jobs to a translator account. This plugin registers a local translator with the login lumo_ai_translator so WPML can send jobs to it. That account is created only when an administrator activates the plugin or uses the registration button in wp-admin. Site visitors cannot trigger this.
Does this plugin use the WordPress AI Client?
No. It requires WordPress 6.0 or newer and sends translation requests to the OpenAI API with the key you enter in Settings. The WordPress AI Client that ships in WordPress 7.0 is not a drop-in for this WPML job flow.
