No. The WordPress.org version is functional without a license or external account.
Free health results are stored locally in WordPress and are not sent to WP Maintain Hero. The public-facing score is calculated locally. The scanner may make requests to the site's own public URLs, the official WordPress.org APIs for public version comparisons, and Jina AI Reader only as a fallback when the site's server cannot retrieve its own public homepage.
Maintain Hero treats empty alt text as an accessibility issue until the image is explicitly approved as decorative. Informative images should receive useful alternative text; purely decorative images can be marked decorative and intentionally keep alt="".
The free edition follows discoverable internal pages and checks the links it finds across the site when an administrator manually starts the scan. Generous safety limits protect against runaway dynamically generated URLs on unusually large sites.
Premium functionality is delivered in a separate add-on distributed by WP Maintain Hero. Premium code is not included or disabled inside the WordPress.org package.
