WordPress REST clients need registered, REST-visible post meta to write SEO fields. A successful post request alone does not prove that your SEO plugin uses those values in its rendered output.
Odiseo SEO Bridge registers those keys — only the ones for the SEO plugin you already have active — so they can be written through the standard WordPress REST API.
What it does, and what it does NOT do:
- Registers SEO post meta for Yoast, Rank Math or SEOPress. Available fields depend on the active plugin.
- Retains legacy All in One SEO post-meta fields for compatibility. Modern AIOSEO stores data in its own tables; these legacy fields do not constitute verified support for its rendered SEO. Use its documented API and verify the result.
- Does NOT change your SEO configuration or your existing content.
- Adds an Odiseo information and connection-guide page in the WordPress admin. When explicitly enabled, it also serves a public IndexNow ownership key as plain text.
- Only users who can already edit a post can write its SEO fields.
- Prepares a native editorial author when an authorized publishing client requests a byline. The identity has no role, email or login access; personal accounts are never renamed. The first setup requires create_users and edit_others_posts; reuse requires edit_others_posts.
- SEO metadata support requires a compatible SEO plugin; editorial signatures work independently.
It is open source (GPL) and makes no external calls: it exposes authenticated metadata and editorial-author operations. It is a useful building block for any headless or automated publishing setup.
Installing the plugin does not connect your website to Odiseo or start publishing. Connect your domain separately in the Odiseo dashboard. Content generation, images, approvals, reporting and Odiseo MCP are services of the platform, not features executed by this plugin. No Odiseo account is required to use the bridge with another authenticated REST client.
- Download the official ZIP from https://www.odiseo.help/seo-bridge without unzipping it.
- In the WordPress dashboard, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, click Install Now and Activate Plugin. WordPress 6.0+, PHP 7.4+ and plugin-install permissions are required.
- Activate your SEO plugin. Yoast, Rank Math and SEOPress expose supported SEO fields through this bridge. Modern All in One SEO requires its native API integration to be verified in Odiseo.
- Open Odiseo SEO Bridge in the WordPress admin. Click Sign in to Odiseo (or create an account); select/add your domain and open Settings → Connections → WordPress.
- Create a dedicated Editor in WordPress Users → Add New. In its profile, generate an Application Password named Odiseo and copy it immediately. Enter your HTTPS website URL, username and that Application Password in Odiseo. Never use your normal WordPress login password.
- Click Check connection in Odiseo and refresh the plugin page to see the linked account, last verified plan, publishing user and verification date. These details are a snapshot; current subscription, usage and jobs are available in Odiseo.
- Import the website pages, complete Brand & strategy and check a test draft, cover, category and rendered SEO before live publishing.
To update an existing installation, upload the new ZIP through the same menu and choose Replace current with uploaded. Run Check connection in Odiseo afterwards.
If Application Passwords are missing, check HTTPS and your security/hosting policies. In Wordfence → All Options → Brute Force Protection, uncheck Disable WordPress application passwords while using Odiseo; keep the firewall enabled.
Initial editorial-author setup requires create_users and edit_others_posts permissions. Routine publishing and reuse can use the dedicated Editor. Installing the plugin alone does not link an account or start publishing.
IndexNow is optional: enable it from Odiseo after connecting with an administrator Application Password. Odiseo verifies the public key before sending notifications; installing the bridge alone does not enable notifications.
