Is OrderAlerts free?
Yes. The WordPress plugin, desktop browser extension, and mobile web app for Android and iPhone are free to use. No paywall, trial cutoff, or license key for core Instant Order Alerts.
What data does the plugin send?
When an order is notified (or the store is registered / a pairing code is requested / the API secret is regenerated), OrderAlerts transmits store name and URL and order summary fields used in the alert: order number, status, total, currency, customer name, email, phone, billing and shipping addresses, and line items (SKU, name, quantity, price). The API secret stays in WordPress and is used only to sign requests (HMAC). Data is sent only to the OrderAlerts API (https://api.orderalerts.app) to deliver alerts to your paired devices. See Privacy Policy. The plugin does not inject third-party ads or unrelated analytics.
How do I get desktop notifications in my browser?
Install the free OrderAlerts extension for Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, then enter a short-lived pairing code from the Order Alerts admin page (Generate pairing code). You will get desktop notifications when orders hit your selected statuses.
How do I get mobile notifications on Android or iPhone?
Scan the QR code in Order Alerts admin (or open woocommerce.orderalerts.app), then use Add to Home Screen. No Google Play or App Store account required. This uses a free mobile web app (PWA), not an App Store download.
Do I need the Google Play Store or Apple App Store?
No. Mobile notifications work through a free mobile web app (PWA) you install from the QR code or link — no App Store required.
Does this work with HPOS (High-Performance Order Storage)?
Yes. OrderAlerts declares compatibility with WooCommerce HPOS (custom order tables) and uses standard WooCommerce order APIs for status changes.
Which order statuses trigger alerts?
You choose them in Order Alerts (checkboxes). Default is Processing (typical paid / ready-to-fulfill). Add Completed if your gateway skips Processing (e.g. some digital products).
Can multiple people get the same order notification?
Yes. Generate a pairing code for each device (or use a fresh code per client). Connected users and live desktop extensions appear on the Order Alerts admin page.
Is the pairing code a license key?
No. Short-lived codes only connect your store to your devices. The long API secret stays in WordPress and is never shown in the browser extension.
What if I regenerate the API secret?
Order webhooks use the new secret. Generate new pairing codes and re-pair phones and browser extensions as needed.
Do I need to keep the WordPress admin open?
No. After pairing, desktop notifications and mobile notifications arrive on your devices without an open wp-admin tab.
Which languages are supported?
The admin UI ships in English. You can pick a language on the Order Alerts page (or Automatic = site default). Additional translations come from translate.wordpress.org once language packs are available.
