For eligible generated thumbnails, the plugin first moves the file from its normal uploads location into a private plugin holding directory under uploads. The file can be restored before permanent deletion.
Data is retained by default. In Settings you can explicitly enable "Delete Safe Media Inspector data on uninstall" before deleting the plugin if you want its settings, scan history, reports, and custom database tables removed.
