Do I need a Rank Authority account?
Yes. This plugin is the free connector for Rank Authority, a paid platform where content is generated, optimized, and scheduled. The plugin does nothing on its own until you connect it with your account. See rankauthority.com for plans and details.
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?
GEO — also called AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) or LLM SEO — is optimization for AI search: making sure assistants and answer engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews — can discover, understand, and cite your business. Rank Authority publishes dedicated GEO pages to your site that are structured for exactly that, alongside classic Google-focused SEO content.
Can I use it together with my existing SEO plugin?
Yes. The connector is designed to work alongside your SEO plugin, not replace it. Meta descriptions and focus keyphrases published from the dashboard are saved to your site in standard fields, so your existing setup keeps working and nothing conflicts.
Will it slow down my site?
No. Optimizations are applied on the server while the page is rendered — no third-party JavaScript is loaded in your visitors' browsers. Recommendation lookups are cached, and the plugin integrates with full-page caches (WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, LiteSpeed Cache) so the optimized page is what gets cached and served.
Does it work with page builders like Elementor or Divi?
Yes. The plugin understands Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, and Bricks. When content is updated it snapshots the builder layout first, so the layout can always be restored.
Does the plugin track my visitors?
No. The plugin sets no cookies and sends no visitor IP addresses or personal data anywhere. Once the site is connected, optimization looks up only the page's own approved recommendations, with tracking parameters (utm_*, gclid, fbclid) stripped and results cached. You can disable optimization at any time. See the External Services section for every request the plugin can make.
What happens to my content if I disconnect or uninstall?
Your content stays. Everything Rank Authority publishes is a normal WordPress post or page in your database — nothing is hosted elsewhere. Disconnecting simply stops optimization lookups and publishing; your posts, pages, images, and metadata remain yours. If the dashboard cannot reach the site's REST API, plugin 1.2.0 can receive supported settings, page-unpublish, consolidation redirect, update, disconnect, and bounded published-content metadata operations through its outbound agent. Author snapshots omit email, and heartbeat status never sends author rows, URLs, redirect maps, robots.txt content, IndexNow keys, or post bodies. Automatic plugin updates still require direct filesystem access and wordpress.org connectivity; otherwise update manually from WordPress Admin → Plugins. A physical robots.txt file must also be edited directly.
How do I get my connection token?
After installing the plugin, go to WordPress Admin → Rank Authority. Your unique token is displayed with a copy button, together with a step-by-step connect guide.
Is my site secure with this plugin?
Yes. Every API request requires HTTPS and Bearer-token authentication — only your connected dashboard can publish. Deletions unpublish to restorable drafts rather than permanently deleting, and administrators can regenerate the token at any time, which immediately invalidates the old one.
Can I regenerate my token?
Yes. Any administrator with the manage_options capability can regenerate the token from the plugin settings page. This invalidates the old token immediately.
Can multiple users connect to the same site?
The plugin supports site-level connection. The last user to connect will overwrite the previous website ID. For team collaboration, consider using a shared account.
Privacy & Tracking
Applying SEO recommendations is enabled by default after activation, but no recommendation requests are made until the site is connected with a website ID. You can disable optimization at any time from the plugin settings.
Once enabled, each front-end page render looks up recommendations for that page. The lookup sends your website ID and the page URL (a SHA-256 hash of it on the CDN path, the URL itself on the API fallback). Tracking parameters such as utm_*, gclid, and fbclid are stripped before the lookup, results are cached for one hour, and no visitor IP addresses, cookies, or personal data are sent by the plugin. Unchecking the option or disconnecting the site stops the lookups immediately.
Note that the plugin settings screen in wp-admin loads a webfont from Google Fonts. That request is made by your browser when you view that one screen, and it happens regardless of the tracking setting. See the External Services section for details.

- Redesigned the outbound agent connection panel in wp-admin to match the dashboard's card styling: a rounded pairing-code field, the primary gradient action button, an informational WP-Cron note, and a "Connected" status pill once the site is linked. The panel shows in Get Started before connecting and moves into Settings for re-pairing after connecting
- Prevented unresolved schema placeholders from reaching page HTML, bypassed stale SSR transients after upgrade, and purged supported page caches so corrected schema is fetched immediately
- Added an outbound command agent so a connected site behind a Web Application Firewall can keep working when the dashboard cannot reach its inbound REST API: it runs on any site already connected with a dashboard-verified token and website ID, and can also be established with a one-time pairing code (never stored) as a fallback, then polls the Rank Authority backend about once a minute over WP-Cron to run leased commands and report results
- Outbound commands are idempotent and durable — each is claimed, executed once, and recorded in a dedicated receipt table so a lost report can replay without repeating the work; receipts are bounded, expire after seven days, and never retain command payloads or secret fields
- Outbound agent can receive server-side optimization settings, safe page/post unpublish with 410 handling, reversible consolidation redirects, RankFast publish/restore, RankLink insert/remove, focus-keyphrase fixes, and content publish, plus bounded published-content, author, redirect, and published-URL inventory reads for sites whose inbound REST API is blocked
- Destructive page and redirect fallbacks verify exact URL and post identity, protect the homepage, record durable receipts, and never transfer the post body
