/llms.txt and the saved robots.txt as WordPress's own; with nothing saved, WordPress's defaults stay. A file of either name in the site's folder, such as the llms.txt Yoast SEO writes when its llms.txt feature is on, takes precedence, and Rank Prompt leaves it alone.
IndexNow on publish. The plugin generates an IndexNow key for your site and serves it at /{key}.txt. Rank Prompt uses it to tell Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver about a post the moment it goes live, instead of waiting for the next crawl.
A free check of what AI can read. Settings, Rank Prompt shows whether your site has an llms.txt file and which search engine and AI crawlers your robots.txt lets in, with search engines flagged first because blocking one removes your pages from that index.
AI crawler visits, if you turn them on. Once the site is connected in Rank Prompt (AI crawlers), an administrator can turn on sending in Settings, Rank Prompt. Each visit from an AI crawler such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot is then sent to Rank Prompt every five minutes, so you can see which pages those crawlers read and where they hit errors. Visits from people are never noted.
The plugin works without a Rank Prompt account. The SEO fields and IndexNow parts are used when you connect the site in Rank Prompt (Integrations, WordPress).
Only if an administrator turns on AI crawler visits (see External services). Otherwise the plugin makes no outside requests of its own. The site check reads your own site's llms.txt, robots.txt and key file. Rank Prompt's servers call your site's REST API with the application password you created, and send the IndexNow notification for posts they publish.
The SEO title, meta description, focus keyword, Open Graph title and description and canonical URL of the SEO plugin that is active, and the structured data (JSON-LD) the plugin prints in the head, only on posts and pages the connecting user is allowed to edit. When the connecting user is an administrator, also the text of llms.txt and robots.txt. On a page Elementor draws, Rank Prompt changes the page's Elementor data, and the plugin clears Elementor's CSS and rendered copy of that page so the change shows.
A robots.txt file in the site's folder is served before WordPress runs, so WordPress's own robots.txt, and the text saved here, never show. Rank Prompt sees the file and leaves the change for you to make in it. The same goes for an llms.txt file.
Go to Settings, Permalinks and click Save once, so WordPress rebuilds its rewrite rules. Sites with plain permalinks cannot serve the key.
