RSSless is a WordPress plugin which allows you to hide specific content in your posts from RSS readers. This is helpful for bloggers who embed videos, images, or other content which doesn't display or embed correctly in RSS readers. Rather then having RSS readers get blank content, you can simply replace it with customizable message, such as "Please view the original article to watch this video."
RSSless uses WordPress' built in short code API. To hide specific content from RSS readers simply surround your chosen content (images, embedded videos, text, etc) with the short code tags. You can replace your content with the default replacement text you set in the Options menu by simply surrounding your content with [rssless][/rssless]. Alternatively, you can chose a custom message for each short code by setting a text attribute, such as in the following: [rssless text="Replacement text"][/rssless].
First Installation:
- Download rssless.zip and unzip it.
- Upload the plugin folder to wp-content/plugins/ and activate from the Plugin administrative menu.
- Navigate to the plugins Options Menu (Settings > RSSless) and set the default replacement message.
Upgrade:
Use the automatic upgrade feature. Otherwise disable the plugin and overwrite it with your newly downloaded version.
