- In WordPress admin go to Plugins -> Add New
- Search for "ShippingIQ" and click Install Now, then Activate
- In the left menu go to WooCommerce -> ShippingIQ
- Click Sign Up and create your free ShippingIQ account
- You will see four tabs: My Carrier, Rules, Surcharges, and Account
- Go to the My Carrier tab and enter your carrier name
- Upload your carrier rate card file (CSV or Excel) and your zone file, then click Analyse
- Review the analysis result and click Save Carrier - your rates are now stored
- Go to the Rules tab to set your free shipping threshold and display preferences, then click Save Rules
- Now go to WooCommerce -> Settings -> Shipping
- Click on your Shipping Zone (e.g. "Australia") - if you don't have one, click Add shipping zone, name it "Australia", and set the region to Australia
- Inside the zone, click Add shipping method
- Select ShippingIQ from the list and click Add shipping method
- Click Save changes
- Your contracted carrier rates will now appear automatically at checkout when customers enter their postcode
- Method Title - label shown to customers at checkout, defaults to "Freight"
- Display Mode - show all eligible carriers or cheapest only

Do I need a ShippingIQ account?
Yes. After installing the plugin, go to WooCommerce -> ShippingIQ to create your free account directly inside WordPress - no need to visit shippingiq.com.au. Upload your rate card and configure rules in the plugin. You can also sign in at shippingiq.com.au with the same account to reach a few settings that are not in the plugin, such as carrier eligibility limits.
Which carriers are supported?
Any Australian carrier. ShippingIQ uses AI to parse your carrier's rate card. Upload it as a CSV or Excel file. If your carrier provides a rate card file, ShippingIQ can use it.
Do products need weight set?
Yes. WooCommerce products must have weight set in kg. Items with no weight are excluded from the freight calculation. If all cart items have no weight, no rates will be shown.
What dimension units should I use?
Set WooCommerce to kg for weight and cm for dimensions (WooCommerce -> Settings -> General). ShippingIQ uses these for cubic weight calculation and overlength surcharge detection.
How does free shipping work?
Set a free shipping threshold in ShippingIQ -> Rules. When the cart value meets the threshold, free shipping is shown. Smart mode voids free shipping if surcharges apply (e.g. tailgate delivery). True mode always shows free regardless of surcharges.
Can I exclude certain carriers for oversized items?
Yes, on any plan. Carrier eligibility limits (maximum weight, length, width and height) stop a carrier being offered when an item exceeds what it can carry. Set them by signing in at shippingiq.com.au with the same account you created in the plugin, then opening the Carriers page. They apply at checkout automatically.
Can I force a specific carrier for certain products?
Yes, on any plan, and entirely inside WooCommerce. Add a product tag of shippingiq-only-[carrier-slug] to force a product onto one carrier, or shippingiq-exclude-[carrier-slug] to keep a carrier away from it. The slug is your carrier's name in lowercase with hyphens - a carrier named "Allied Express" becomes shippingiq-only-allied-express. You can also tag a product shippingiq-exempt to stop its cart from qualifying for free shipping - for bulky items that should always be charged freight.
Can I upload a PDF rate card?
Not directly - the plugin accepts CSV and Excel on every plan. If your carrier only provides a PDF, either ask them for a CSV or Excel version, or, on the Pro plan, sign in at shippingiq.com.au and use the Rate Card Converter to turn the PDF into a CSV, then upload that CSV here.
How many carriers can I add?
The free plan supports 1 carrier. Upgrade to Pro at shippingiq.com.au/pricing for unlimited carriers.
Is there a limit on checkout quotes?
The free plan includes 100 checkout quotes per month. If you reach the limit, a "shipping unavailable" message will show at checkout until the next calendar month. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited quotes.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes one carrier (CSV or Excel rate cards), 100 checkout quotes per month, and all of the settings that keep your quotes accurate - fuel levy, cubic factor, origin depot, free shipping threshold, display mode, carrier eligibility limits and product tag overrides. What are surcharges and how do the trigger rules work?
Surcharges are extra carrier charges such as tail lift, hand unload or an overlength fee. On the Pro plan, open the Surcharges tab to add them as a dollar amount, a percentage, or POA. Each surcharge gets a trigger rule that decides when it applies: never, on every consignment, when a single item is over a weight you set, when the whole consignment is over a weight you set, or when an item is longer than a length you set. Anything ShippingIQ finds in your rate card is added for you and marked Extracted; anything you type in yourself is marked Manual.
What is the cubic factor and why does it matter?
Carriers charge on whichever is greater, actual weight or cubic weight. The cubic factor converts a carton's volume into that cubic weight. Most Australian carriers use 250, which is the default, but some use 333 or another figure. If yours differs and the factor is left at 250, every quote will be wrong in the same direction. Set it per carrier on the My Carrier tab. This is included on the free plan.

- Security hardening: the checkout API endpoint is now fixed in code and is no longer an editable shipping method setting. Two unused settings were removed - the shipping method now shows only Method Title and Display Mode.
- The Test a postcode tool now shows an itemised breakdown (freight, fuel levy, surcharges, margin and total per carrier) and includes an order value field so you can test your free shipping threshold.
- Corrected the description of the shippingiq-exempt product tag: it stops a cart from qualifying for free shipping. Checkout behaviour is unchanged.

- Improved support for large rate cards, so carriers with many depots or zones are read in full.
- Fixed plan detection: if the connection to ShippingIQ was briefly interrupted, Pro merchants could be shown an "upgrade to Pro" notice over features they already had. The plugin now tells the difference between "not on Pro" and "could not check right now".
- Removed the "Priority" checkout display mode. Checkout now offers All carriers or Cheapest only. Stores previously set to Priority will show all eligible carriers.
- Fixed the "Test a postcode" tool so it works with the secure login connection introduced in 1.3.0.
- Clearer reconnect prompt: if your account is disconnected, the plugin now tells you that checkout rates are affected and asks you to log in again.
- Reliability improvement to keeping your checkout connection valid after logging in.
- Security improvement: the plugin now connects to your ShippingIQ account using your own secure login session instead of a shared access key. Your carrier and account data is only reachable with your login.
- After updating, you will need to log in to ShippingIQ again in WooCommerce -> ShippingIQ. Your checkout keeps showing freight rates in the meantime, so your store is not affected.
