The policy covers all POPIA Section 18 disclosure requirements and uses your actual business name, address, email and Information Officer details throughout.   2. Go to POPIA Toolkit in your WordPress admin menu
  3. Fill in your business details in the Business Profile tab

Automatic installation
  1. Log in to your WordPress admin panel
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New
  3. Search for "SilverStream Privacy Toolkit for POPIA"
  4. Click Install Now, then Activate
Manual installation
  1. Download the plugin zip file
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin
  3. Choose the zip file and click Install Now
  4. Click Activate Plugin
After activation
  1. Go to POPIA Toolkit in your left admin menu
  2. Fill in your business details in the Business Profile tab
  3. Click Save and regenerate all documents
  4. Your Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, POPIA Statement, Information Officer and Data Breach pages are now live

Does this plugin make my website fully POPIA compliant?

This plugin generates the documents and tools required for POPIA compliance. It is not a substitute for legal advice. Consult a qualified attorney to confirm compliance for your specific situation.

Does the plugin send any data to external servers?

No. This plugin makes zero external server calls. All data is stored exclusively in your own WordPress database.

What is an Information Officer and do I need one?

Under POPIA Section 55, every organisation that processes personal information must appoint a designated Information Officer and register them with the Information Regulator at justice.gov.za/inforeg. This is a legal requirement.

What does the cookie consent banner do?

It displays a banner to first-time visitors informing them about cookies in accordance with POPIA. Visitors can Accept or Decline. Their decision is stored as a browser cookie for one year.

Can I customise the generated documents?

Yes. Documents are generated from your business profile. Update your settings and all documents regenerate automatically. Generated pages are standard WordPress pages and can also be edited directly.

Does this work with Divi, Elementor or Gutenberg?

Yes. Generated pages are standard WordPress pages that work with any theme or page builder.

Where do I register my Information Officer?

At the Information Regulator eServices portal: justice.gov.za/inforeg. Registration is free and legally required.

Can I create separate policies for my mobile app?

Yes — with the Pro version. The Policy Sets feature lets you create an unlimited number of independent policy sets (e.g. Website, Android App, iOS App). Each set has its own pages, can be hidden from your site navigation, and never affects other policy sets.

Can I use a shortcode to display a specific policy?

Yes — with the Pro version. Use [popia_policy set="your-set-slug" type="privacy"] to display any policy set's pages anywhere on your site.
