SPMedia Age Verification adds a full-screen age-gate popup to your WooCommerce store. On the visitor's first session the popup asks "Are you {age}?" — a single Yes/No choice that prevents underage users from accessing age-restricted content (alcohol, tobacco, adult products, etc.). The minimum age, the deny-redirect URL, all on-screen texts, your logo, and the popup colours are all configurable from the WordPress admin panel — no coding required. Upgrade to Pro to go further: instead of a simple Yes/No the visitor enters their full date of birth, and the plugin computes their age against the configured threshold before granting access. Pro also remembers consent persistently via a cookie (configurable duration, default 30 days) so returning visitors are not interrupted, bypasses the gate for search-engine crawlers (Googlebot, Bingbot, etc.) so your pages stay indexable, and lets you scope the gate to specific WooCommerce categories or individual products rather than the whole site. Defaults to English, ships with a Polish translation, and is fully compatible with WooCommerce. Pro is unlocked with an SP-Media license. Free features Pro features

  1. Upload the plugin folder to /wp-content/plugins/spmedia-age-verification.
  2. Activate it through the Plugins menu in WordPress.
  3. Go to WooCommerce → Age Verification to configure the minimum age, texts, logo, colours, and redirect URL.
  4. (Optional) In the same settings panel, choose whether the gate applies to the whole site or only to specific categories/products.
  5. To enable Pro features, enter your SP-Media license key on the Settings page.

Does it require WooCommerce?

Yes — WooCommerce 8.0 or newer is required.

What happens when a visitor clicks "No"?

The popup displays a configurable deny message and, after a short delay (also configurable), redirects the visitor to a URL you specify in the settings (default: google.com).

Is the verification result remembered between pages?

On the free plan the result is stored in the browser session, so verified visitors are not re-prompted while the browser tab is open. With Pro the result is stored in a cookie for a configurable number of days (default 30), so returning visitors are not interrupted on subsequent visits.

Will the popup hurt my SEO?

Not when using the Pro crawler-bypass feature. The gate is automatically skipped for known search-engine crawlers (Googlebot, Bingbot, etc.), so they can index your pages normally. On the free plan the popup is rendered to all visitors including crawlers.

Can I show the gate only on certain products or categories?

Per-category and per-product scoping is a Pro feature. On the free plan the gate is shown site-wide (on every page load for unverified visitors).

Does the date-of-birth form work with any minimum age?

Yes. You set a single minimum age threshold in the settings (e.g. 18 or 21). The Pro date-of-birth form computes the visitor's current age from their entered date of birth and compares it to that threshold.

Is a license required for basic use?

No. The Yes/No popup, minimum-age configuration, deny redirect, and session-based remembering are entirely free. A Pro license from SP-Media unlocks date-of-birth verification, persistent cookie remembering, crawler bypass, and per-category/product scoping. Visit spmedia.pl for pricing.
