- Upload the
synapostfolder to/wp-content/plugins/, or upload the zip via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. - Activate the plugin. A fresh install defaults to the free, no-signup Demo Provider, so you can test the entire workflow immediately with zero configuration.
- Go to SynaPost → Business Setup and fill in your business profile.
- Try SynaPost → Strategy Planner to generate a test plan, then generate an article from the Topic Library - no API key required yet.
- When you're ready for real content, go to SynaPost → Settings, add your OpenAI API key, and switch the default provider away from Demo.
- (Recommended) Connect Telegram for the approval workflow - see Settings → Approvals for the bot setup steps. Or use the in-dashboard Approval Center instead.
- Generate a strategy plan or add topics manually, then let the daily automation run - or click "Run queue now" on the dashboard.

I set up Telegram but I'm not receiving any messages - why?
The most common cause: Telegram bots can never start a conversation, only reply to one. Open a chat with your bot and send it any message first, then use the "Send Test Message" button under Settings → Approvals - it will show Telegram's exact error if something's still wrong (usually a wrong chat ID or the bot not being messaged first).
Do I need an API key to try this out?
No. Activating the plugin sets you up with the built-in Demo Provider, so you can run the entire workflow - strategy plan, article generation, SEO fields, approval - before connecting any real AI provider. Demo output is clearly labeled as placeholder content so it can't be mistaken for the real thing.
Which AI providers does the free version support?
OpenAI, plus the built-in Demo Provider for testing with zero setup. SynaPost Pro adds Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, and a self-hosted Ollama model.
Is there a usage limit or credit system?
No. SynaPost doesn't meter usage itself - it calls OpenAI directly, using your own API key. Cost and rate limits are whatever OpenAI charges you.
Does this replace my SEO plugin?
No - it writes into whichever of Yoast SEO, Rank Math, or All in One SEO you already have active, so their own analysis and snippet preview keep working as normal.
Is WordPress login required to approve an article?
No. The Telegram approval workflow lets you approve, edit, regenerate, or cancel directly from a phone.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
By default, nothing is deleted - deactivating or removing the plugin leaves your topics and generated posts intact. Permanent deletion on uninstall is opt-in under Settings → Advanced.

- Security: added server-side whitelist validation for Topic status/priority/difficulty/content type/content style, switched Business Profile's Website and Button Link fields to WordPress's URL sanitizer, validated a topic's rescheduled date server-side, added a file-size cap to CSV/XLSX topic import, and capped the daily article-generation limit.

- Renamed: Synapress is now SynaPost - same product, same team, new name. Version numbers continue from the previous Synapress 3.5.1 release rather than restarting, so this is 3.6.0. No functionality changed as part of the rename itself.
- Added: a "Table of Contents" toggle under Settings → Content Quality, on by default - turn it off if you don't want the automatic Table of Contents added to longer articles.
- Improved: generated articles now aim their SEO focus keyword at the SEO title, meta description, URL slug, and at least one subheading - not just the post title and body - and target a healthy ~1% keyword density instead of leaving it to chance.
- Added: a Table of Contents is now automatically added to longer articles (3+ sections), with working jump-links to each section.
- Improved: the internal SEO score (shown in the Approval Center and Editorial Calendar) now checks all of the above, plus internal links, structure, readability, and a featured image - a much fuller picture than the old keyword-presence-only version. Scores on existing content will read differently against this fuller checklist; nothing has been changed on already-published posts.
- Fixed: generated blog posts and pages could land noticeably outside the "Word Count" range set in Settings - the range is now actively enforced, expanding or trimming the generated content as needed until it fits, instead of only asking the AI to hit it.
- Changed: Landing Page content now also follows the "Word Count" range set in Settings (previously fixed at a short 300-600 words regardless of that setting). FAQ content still stays intentionally shorter, since it's a set of short Q&A pairs rather than one continuous piece.
- Fixed: the Approval Center's "Below SEO threshold" badge could show next to a score that already met the minimum (e.g. 80/100 with a 70 threshold) - it now always agrees with the score printed beside it, since a "Regenerate" of just the meta/headline could raise the score without ever clearing the flag that controlled the badge.
- Improved: generated articles now reliably link a mentioned product/service to its real URL as a proper clickable link, and are pushed noticeably harder to also link out to 1-5 of your own existing published posts where genuinely relevant, instead of only mentioning them by name.
- Improved: generated articles now aim for more specific, concrete writing (real examples and decision criteria instead of generic advice, no repeated points) and the internal quality-review pass is calibrated to reserve its strictest findings for genuine problems rather than routine editorial polish.
- Improved: SynaPost's own admin pages no longer show update nags, review requests, or other notices from unrelated plugins - only SynaPost's (and, if installed, SynaPost Pro's) own notices appear there, so your dashboard stays uncluttered while you're working in it.

- Improved (Pro): the Repurpose page's "Article to repurpose" picker is now a searchable, filterable modal instead of one giant dropdown - it no longer has a hard ceiling on how many published articles it can offer (the old dropdown silently couldn't show anything past your 100 most recent posts).
- Fixed: a business's product/service link could get silently stripped out of a generated article's mention of it (leaving the name with no link at all) whenever that product/service page happened to live on the same WordPress site as the blog itself - internal-link cleanup was treating it as an unrecognized/suspicious URL rather than a trusted one.
- Fixed (Pro): the Repurpose page's category filter could return zero results for a category whose real name contains special characters (e.g. "R&D") - the stored category value and the filter's search value could end up in different encoded/decoded forms and fail to match even though matching posts existed. Existing category data is corrected automatically on upgrade.
- Changed: "Preferred Output Language" under Business Setup is now a dropdown of real language/locale codes (English, English (US), Spanish (Mexico), Portuguese (Brazil), etc.) instead of a free-text box - picking one applies to every article, snippet, and repurposed post the AI generates for that business profile.

- Fixed: OpenRouter connections could fail with "Empty response from provider." - auto-routing could land on a reasoning-capable model that spent its whole token budget on hidden reasoning before producing any visible text. The default OpenRouter model is now a reliable, non-reasoning one, the connection test has more headroom, and this specific failure now explains itself instead of showing a generic error.
- Added: a "Default Author" field under Settings → Publishing - set once, and every automatically generated article is attributed to that person instead of having no byline (automated runs have no logged-in user to fall back to).
- Fixed: the previous round's word-count fix still had a gap at the top of the Settings word-count field's own range (up to 5000 words) - the AI's response budget could still run out right around there. Raised the ceiling to comfortably cover the full field.
- Fixed: generating an article at a larger word count (e.g. 1500-2000 words) could fail with a generic "Something went wrong" error - the request was hitting PHP's default execution time limit partway through, and the AI's response budget wasn't scaled up for longer articles.
- Improved: "Generating..." and other in-progress messages now show a clear animated spinner, and success/error results display as an obvious colored message instead of small, easy-to-miss text.
- Added: a Content Topic Quality Engine now scores and filters every topic the Strategy Planner (and, in Pro, Content Gap Suggestions) proposes - weak, generic, repetitive, or search-engine-first ideas are rejected before they ever reach your pipeline, and kept topics carry a short opportunity-score note.
- Added: a third quality pass now reviews every generated article - relevance, search intent, reader value, specificity, originality, repetition, AI-generic patterns, factual safety, product-integration fit, SEO, and structure - alongside the existing SEO score and readability checks. An article it flags is routed to human approval instead of auto-publishing, with the specific concerns shown on the Approval Center card.
- Added: Business Setup's Products and Services are now a repeatable list (name, description, and an optional link per item) instead of a single free-text box each, so generated content can reference what something actually is instead of just its name. Existing free-text entries carry over automatically as a single item.
- Fixed: the Business Setup "Website" field (and several other one-off profile fields) could get silently overwritten by the browser's own autofill with the WordPress install's own URL, rather than showing what you'd actually typed or left blank.
- Fixed: saving Settings from any tab other than "AI & Images" always landed back on "AI & Images" instead of staying on the tab you were actually on. The active tab now carries through the save.
- Fixed: the Settings page's Save button could seem completely unresponsive on the first click after filling in a Slack Bot Token, Signing Secret, or the Email Approval address (a Pro feature). Chrome was mistaking the page for a login form (an email field sitting alongside password-type fields in the same form) and popping its own saved-password autofill UI over the page - the first click just closed that, not the actual button underneath. Marked those fields correctly so Chrome no longer treats them as a login form.
- No functional change - more fixes from the WordPress.org Plugin Check tool: a missing translators comment on a placeholder string, replaced a direct fopen()/fgetcsv() file read in the CSV/TSV importer with an in-memory stream (same exact parsing behavior, including multi-line quoted fields), and shortened two changelog-page upgrade notices that exceeded the 300-character display limit.
- Fixed: the CTA box's button wasn't centered under its own text, even though the box itself is centered - WordPress's Buttons block lays its contents out with flexbox, which doesn't respond to the parent's text-align, so it needed its own explicit centering.
- No functional change - fixes flagged by the WordPress.org plugin review's automated check: replaced heredoc syntax with standard string concatenation in the AI Writer and Strategy Planner (heredoc isn't allowed by the plugin directory's scanner), and bumped "Tested up to" to the current WordPress version.
- Fixed: the free placeholder thumbnail styles stamped a "DEMO" badge/watermark on every featured image regardless of whether the article's own text came from a real AI provider - now it only appears when the whole site is genuinely unconfigured (no real provider set up at all). A real article generated with a real provider, using the free placeholder thumbnail style, no longer looks like broken test content.
- AI Writer: every generated blog post now gets 2-5 relevant WordPress tags automatically, applied through the real post_tag taxonomy (not a custom field) - previously nothing tagged generated articles at all. Service Page and Landing Page are unaffected, since WordPress pages don't have tags. Regenerating an article replaces its tags with the fresh set rather than piling old and new tags on top of each other.
- Add Topic: split "Content Type" into two fields - Content Type (Blog Post, Service Page, Landing Page - genuinely different kinds of page) and a new Content Style field (Comparison Post, How-To Guide, Case Study, News, Tutorial, Listicle - structural styles of a Blog Post, only shown when Content Type is Blog Post). Previously these were mixed into one dropdown as if they were the same kind of choice.
- Fixed: FAQ, Product Review, and Product Description were still selectable in Add Topic even though that content now belongs on the standalone Content Snippets page (Pro) - removed from the dropdown. Existing topics already using them are unaffected.
- CTA Engine: Business Setup now has a Button Color field, so the built-in CTA box uses your own brand color instead of a hardcoded SynaPost orange. Also restyled the box itself (soft brand-tinted background, accent border, subtle shadow, pill-shaped button) - existing profiles keep the original orange automatically until a color is picked.
- Fixed: the Settings page always showed an "Analytics" tab even on sites without SynaPost Pro, where clicking it landed on a blank tab with nothing in it. The tab now only appears when Pro's Analytics module is actually installed and licensed.
- The Notes field on any topic now actually guides generation - previously saved but never used.
- Comparison Post, How-To Guide, Case Study, News, Tutorial, and Listicle now get real structural guidance (numbered steps, criteria breakdowns, inverted-pyramid leads, etc.) instead of just a different label on a standard article.
- Added a "Resync Publish Statuses" tool under Settings → Advanced → Data Integrity - one-click repair for any topic still showing "pending approval" when its article was actually already published (e.g. directly through the WordPress post editor, on a site that hadn't yet updated past 2.3.1). Safe to run any time.
- Fixed: the SynaPost placeholder thumbnail generated for real articles never showed the actual post title - it was truncating a long descriptive sentence meant for a real AI image model instead. The placeholder now always shows the real article title.
- AI Writer: added an "Openers" category to the built-in anti-AI-tells checklist - catches vague time/scope-framed openings like "In today's ever-evolving landscape of X" or "As we navigate the complexities of X" that stall before making an actual point, applied automatically everywhere the checklist already runs.
- Fixed: publishing a generated article directly from the WordPress post editor (instead of using the Approval Center or a Telegram approval button) could leave it showing as "pending approval" in the Pipeline and Approval Center even though it was genuinely live. The plugin now detects a post going live by any means and keeps its own status in sync automatically.
- AI Writer: expanded the built-in anti-AI-tells guidance from a short word blocklist to a full 9-category checklist (vocabulary, filler transitions, structure, sentence rhythm, punctuation, tone, discourse patterns, content specificity, and emphasis formatting) - applied automatically to every article, the self-critique editing pass, and single-component regeneration (headline/intro/conclusion/CTA). No setting to configure - this is just how content is written by default.
- Fixed: the "model demo does not exist" error could still occur after saving a real provider as your default with the optional Model field left blank - the saved default model now always resolves to a real value for that provider instead of silently keeping the previous provider's model. Also added a permanent safeguard so this specific mismatch can never reach a real provider's API again, and self-heals automatically on sites that already saved the broken combination.
- Fixed: testing a real AI provider's connection (e.g. OpenAI) could fail with "The model
demodoes not exist" on sites that hadn't yet switched away from the default Demo Provider, even with a valid API key. The connection test now always uses a real model for the provider being tested.
- AI Thumbnail: 4 selectable placeholder styles (Brand Motif, Bold Diagonal, Minimal Card, Classic Band), background/accent color pickers to match your brand, and a live preview - all free, no Pro required.
- AI Writer: every generated draft now gets a self-critique editing pass (checked against word count, keyword placement, and structure requirements before it's scored) and must clear a minimum readability score, in addition to the existing SEO score check.
