Do I need a The Tech Pad account?
Yes — the messages are sent from your The Tech Pad workspace WhatsApp number. Create a free workspace at thetechpad.com/wa.
Which WhatsApp templates do I need?
Outside the 24-hour customer-service window, WhatsApp requires approved templates. Create and get
order_confirmation, order_shipped, order_cancelled, order_delivered and cart_recovery
approved in your workspace's Templates module, then map them in the dashboard Flows tab.
Is my store data safe?
The plugin sends only order-level data (order id, total, line items, billing contact) over HTTPS to The Tech Pad, signed with a per-store secret. Your WooCommerce API credentials are only used if you opt in to live order status lookups, and are then encrypted and stored on The Tech Pad's servers — never on your site. Is this the AI website chat widget?
No. This plugin sends order notifications and cart-recovery messages to WhatsApp. The AI chat widget that answers visitors on your website is a separate app — Click to AI Chat for WooCommerce.

- The standard WooCommerce order actions "Resend new order notification" and "Send order details to customer" now also deliver the WhatsApp message. They only re-sent the email before, so a merchant who pressed them waiting for the customer's WhatsApp notification saw nothing happen.
- Cancelling an order keeps the cancellation message: a cancelled order that had been refunded earlier was announced to the customer as a new refund.
- Repeat status changes in the same editing session (cancelled → processing → cancelled → processing) each notify the customer. A 5-minute same-event guard was quietly dropping the repeats of the transition.
- You are now told, everywhere in wp-admin, if the store is not connected to thetechpad.com. A warning is shown on every admin screen (with the number of messages waiting to go out and a link straight to the connect card) whenever the connection is missing — so a store that is quietly not sending order confirmations can no longer go unnoticed. It can be hidden for a few hours, and it comes back while the connection is still missing.
- The Tech Pad can now check this store's connection itself, on a schedule, instead of waiting for somebody to visit the site. WordPress only runs its scheduled jobs when a page is loaded, so a quiet store used to look offline while being perfectly healthy. When that check confirms the store is reachable, any messages waiting in the queue are sent at the same time.
- Added a status endpoint (
/wp-json/techpad/v1/status) that reports only this plugin's version, your site URL and whether the store is connected. Nothing about your customers, orders or credentials is ever returned by it.
- The plugin row on your Plugins screen is more useful: "By The Tech Pad" now opens the WooCommerce setup guide (instead of the site home page), and the row carries direct Settings and Set-up guide links.
- Order messages are never lost while the store is not connected. Previously, if the store was disconnected (settings wiped by a reinstall or host reset, or disconnected from your Tech Pad workspace), every order was dropped in silence: no message, no retry, no warning. Events are now queued and listed in this settings page, and they go out automatically once the store is connected again — or immediately with "Send now".
- Messages waiting in the queue are also retried on ordinary page visits, not only by WP-Cron (which never runs on some hosts and sandboxes) — so a background job can no longer be the reason a customer misses an order update.
- The store and your Tech Pad workspace now always agree on whether the store is connected. The plugin checks with your workspace whenever you open this settings page and once an hour on page loads, and it only signs itself out when your workspace confirms it — so "connected" in the dashboard means connected here too, and when one side drops the connection the other follows.
- Disconnecting is now confirmed before it takes effect: if your site cannot reach The Tech Pad, the store stays connected and tells you, instead of half-disconnecting.
- Fixed a case where a store could silently sign itself out on an unrelated 401 response.
- Fixed: a store that was already connected but lost its settings (after deleting/reinstalling the plugin, or a host reset) can now reconnect with a fresh code without being refused because "a store is already connected".
- Fixed a case where a second status change on the same order could be silently dropped — for example when an order moved from cancelled to processing, the customer got no update. Every status change now sends its own notification, while the automatic retry of a single failed send still collapses into one message (no duplicates).
- Order notes now tell you the truth about a manual resend: the real result (sent, or the HTTP error and "queued for retry") is recorded instead of always reporting success.
- A manual resend now flushes the pending queue immediately instead of waiting for WP-Cron, which never runs on some hosts and sandboxes.
- Display name restored to "TechPad – Automated Order Notifications & Cart Recovery for WooCommerce" — the WordPress.org directory does not allow "WhatsApp" in plugin display names or permalinks (Meta trademark policy), so it was removed from the name. The plugin still sends order notifications and cart-recovery messages over WhatsApp, and the description explains that it is the WhatsApp messaging plugin, not the AI chat widget.
- i18n: added the required translators comments to the two placeholder strings in the settings page (REST keys saved, WhatsApp number), so the plugin passes the directory's internationalization checks.
- Added the "Requires Plugins: woocommerce" header, so WordPress 6.5+ blocks activation until WooCommerce is active.
- Uninstall now also removes the status-messages and REST-key options and sweeps leftover plugin transients.
- The storefront cart beacon now sends a nonce with every sync request.
- Readme now documents the The Tech Pad service, the data it receives, and links to its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- Connect is install-code only again. The v1.2.0 email option was removed: connecting must stay authenticated from your Tech Pad workspace (the one-time code is minted inside your signed-in session), never from an unauthenticated email field. The connect card now leads with the dashboard link and the request-code steps.
- One-click email connect (removed in 1.2.1 — see above).
- Renamed for clarity: "WhatsApp" is now in the plugin name and description, so the plugin can't be confused with the AI website chat widget (that's the separate Click to AI Chat plugin).
- Consumer key/secret fields are no longer browser-autofilled with saved emails/passwords, and the keys card now locks automatically whenever keys already exist on The Tech Pad servers.
- Live order status: Consumer key and Consumer secret are now locked by default once saved — masked, disabled, with an Edit button (same pattern as the API key). A locked form can no longer wipe the saved keys with a blank submit.
- Renamed to TechPad – WhatsApp Notifications & Automation for WooCommerce.
- Live order status: the settings page now remembers that REST keys were saved (masked preview + saved date) and stops re-asking for them. The form hides behind "Replace keys" once connected, and the saved state is cleared on disconnect.
