1. Automatic Installation (Recommended)
This is the easiest way to install the plugin:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
- Search for UpdatePress in the search bar.
- Click Install Now next to the plugin.
- Once installed, click Activate.
- Download the plugin ZIP file from the WordPress Plugin Repository or another trusted source.
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New and click Upload Plugin.
- Choose the downloaded ZIP file and click Install Now.
- After installation, click Activate Plugin.
- Download and unzip the plugin package.
- Upload the unzipped
updatepressfolder to the/wp-content/plugins/directory using an FTP client. - Log in to your WordPress admin area and navigate to Plugins.
- Locate Update Press in the list and click Activate.
- Go to the UpdatePress settings menu in the WordPress dashboard.
- Configure widget options, display settings, update behavior, and other features to suit your site.

How does UpdatePress fetch updates?
UpdatePress pulls updates from a custom WordPress REST API endpoint (/wp-json/updatepress/v1/updates). You can modify this endpoint to fetch data from different sources.
Can I customize the sidebar layout?
No, But the later updates will come with this feature where the user can customize CSS structure, allowing to override styles using your theme’s CSS file.
Does Update Press support custom post types?
Yes, UpdatePress can be extended to fetch updates from custom post types by modifying the query inside the plugin.
Can I remove the company logo from the drawer footer?
No, at the moment, it is not possible to remove it, however, we are working on an updated version and users will be able to modify or hide it.
