- Install and activate the plugin
- Click Start guided setup from the first-run notice, or open SEO Image Optimiser → Setup Guide
- Choose your optimisation profile, delivery mode and upload automation preferences
- (Optional) Add a Lite, Pro or Unlimited API key for cloud/API processing and SmartAlt features
- Open the Dashboard and run the bulk optimiser to convert your existing media library

What happens if my API Key subscription expires?
= Will it overwrite my originals? =\ No. A backup is created the first time an image is optimised and can be restored at any time. = Does it work with page builders? =\ Yes Gutenberg, classic editor, Elementor, WPBakery and most themes. Nothing breaks, you just won't be able to use the cloud services anymore. Your existing optimised files stay in place on your server. You just stop receiving new monthly cloud/API and AI quotas. Local optimisation on your own server can continue to run. = Can I disable AI entirely? =\ Yes. All AI features are optional and images are only sent for analysis if you choose to use the tool.
