- Upload the plugin folder to
/wp-content/plugins/the-grand-athenaeum, or install the ZIP file through Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. - Activate The Grand Athenaeum from the Plugins screen.
- Go to Books > Add New to create your first book.
- Add a cover, subtitle, series label, display order, price, links, synopsis, tags/tropes, and excerpt as needed.
- Add books to Series and Book Tags from the right-hand editor column.
- Place
[grand_athenaeum_grid]on any page where you want your book collection to appear. - Adjust display colors and default columns from Books > Settings.

Is The Grand Athenaeum only for authors?
No. Authors can use it to showcase their own books, but readers, bloggers, reviewers, librarians, collectors, and affiliate marketers can also use it to build curated book collections and recommendation shelves.
Does the plugin sell books directly?
The Grand Athenaeum lets you add essential buy/read links to supported retailers, Shop Direct, or your Website. It does not process payments by itself.
What platforms are supported?
The free version includes the essential buy/read platforms most book pages need: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play Books, Smashwords, Scribd, Shop Direct, and Website. For expanded retailer, audiobook, subscription, library, reader-community, newsletter/RSS, and custom platform options, upgrade to The Grand Athenaeum Scribe’s Edition. Scribe’s Edition adds Draft2Digital, Audible, Spotify, Libro.fm, Chirp, Findaway / Authors Direct, Bookshop.org, IngramSpark, Lulu, Thalia, Waterstones, Vivlio, Tolino, Storytel, Downpour, Payhip, Gumroad, Kindle Unlimited, Patreon, Substack, Ream, Wattpad, Royal Road, Radish, Tapas, Webnovel, Inkitt, Dreame, Galatea, Prolific Works, BookFunnel, Goodreads, The StoryGraph, BookWyrm, library services, newsletter/RSS links, and custom link options.
Can I use affiliate links?
Yes. You can add your own book links, including affiliate links where allowed by your affiliate program and local disclosure rules. You are responsible for any required affiliate disclosures on your site.
Can I organize books by series?
Yes. Use the Series taxonomy and the Display Order field to build reading-order pages. The Series Label field controls the reader-facing label, such as Book 1, Book 2.5, Volume IV, or Episode 7.
Can I create trope or genre pages?
Yes. Use Book Tags for genres, tropes, formats, moods, pairings, or any reader-facing labels you want to use for filtering and organization.
Does it include a featured carousel or direct WooCommerce product links?
No. The WordPress.org version is fully functional for creating and displaying curated book collections. Advanced promotional displays and direct WooCommerce product integrations are available separately in The Grand Athenaeum Scribe’s Edition.
Does the plugin call external services?
The plugin does not call external services by default. If you enter a Google Fonts URL in the settings, your site will load that font from Google Fonts on the front end. Leave that field blank if your theme already loads the font or if you do not want to load an external font.
Will this work with my theme?
The plugin is designed to work with standard WordPress themes. Some themes apply aggressive global styling to images, buttons, lists, or headings; The Grand Athenaeum includes scoped styles to protect book cards where possible.
